Why, Why, Why…
Hey friend.
Did you know my first job was folding clothes at American Eagle Outfitters? Oh yes. I spent many hours folding t-shirts into perfect squares, stacking them into neat displays, and greeting customers as they popped in.
A lot has changed since then and I could not be happier with what I do now.
I have just as much passion for professional organizing in the KonMari Method™ since starting taking my certification course in February of 2026. It’s truly amazing that I get to guide high-functioning people (but kind of messy in private) to confront their clutter and get to a place of clarity.
The most incredible thing about this work?
My ability to hold my boundaries has turned a 180 because I finally gave myself the permission to ask “what sparks joy?” from simple things like what flavor of ice cream I wanted to whether I wanted to continue working in the family business, which sparked negative joy unfortunately. As an 1.5 generation Asian-American, I felt this cloud of “filial piety” hanging over me that silenced my inner voice, pushed me to achieve traditional ideals of success, and bring honor to my parents who came to the USA, etc.
I also finished my Conscious Coaching Certification which allows me to better serve clients because the program highlighted my “holes” and helped me fill them. As a more “whole” KonMari organizer I am more competent in holding space for clients as we journey through the process of sorting through belongings.
Now in my 40’s I am finally finding my spine, and I want to lift up other people who feel the crushing weight of expectations (drip, drip) smooshing all the joy from their lives.
So thank you. Thank you so much for being a part of this. I can’t imagine doing anything different.
Cheers,
Joy Lee
